hiya this might be a hot take but do not base your positions or morality on guilt. it can, will, and does make you defensive. base your opinions on compassion, reduce the harm you create, and do not spend forever agonizing about things you cannot change. worry about what you can do, care about others, and listen to new ideas and different people. if a person is criticizing something, try to figure out if its an action or an institution. if it’s an action, reflect on whether you participate in it. if its an institution that you are a part of, figure out how you can help to dismantle it. your guilt is unhelpful and worsens both your life and the help you give others, I say this from experience.

“One price speakers pay for standard dialects is that they change more slowly, since the fact that a standard dialect is used in writing and public media puts something of a brake on change. However, since non-standard dialects are freer to change on the basis of the human child’s linguistic and cognitive systems, non-standard dialects are, in a sense, often ‘more logical’ or ‘more elegant’ from a linguistic point of view.”

A cursed car that

  • has a GPS that is wrong in so many small ways that quickly add up to the point where you can get lost in even the most straightforward circumstances without noticing it
  • has a radio that only plays stuff you won't like, if you hate country music, the Patriots, and Minecraft Youtubers then get ready to only ever listen to country music stations hosted by Tom Brady and Dream.
  • has lumpy chairs that are not uncomfortable enough to justify the replacement fee but will still piss you off.
  • always has annoying stains on its windows like somebody flicked a toilet brush at it
  • is just ugly as shit.

I'm not a huge fan of French toast so I haven't made it in 10 years but it sounded good today.

I think maple syrup tastes gross on everything but waffles, so this is stuffed with cream cheese, raspberry jam, and slivered almonds.

To make French toast you need bread, an egg wash, a frying surface, and toppings.

I didn't want to make bread (making gluten free bread is hard) so I used rice bread from trader Joe's. You can use any kind of yeast bread you want - try cinnamon raisin bread, if you're into that, or a baguette, or sourdough - but quickbreads won't work, they'll fall apart.

My egg wash was one egg whisked together with a quarter cup of half and half (you can use regular milk if you want, or heavy cream if you're feeling decadent), a half teaspoon of cinnamon, and a quarter teaspoon of almond extract.

Soak both sides of your bread in the egg wash and then fry on medium heat (flipping the slices occasionally) until the bread is cooked through and the outside is golden brown. I cooked my French toast in a cast iron pan with avocado oil, but if you've got a non stick pan or a griddle ora panini press that will work too.

Top with whatever sounds good. I personally like Melba sauce and cream cheese best, but lemon curd and whipped cream is good too. So is blackberry syrup and heavy cream. And so are sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and horseradish aioli. It's a versatile platform.

I use honey on pancakes cuz local honey us less expensive than maple syrup and has various flavors and textures.
